【辨异】动词copy与imitate都表示仿照一样子做的意思。imitate(模仿，仿造)是表示这类意思的通常用词，如：imitate sb's handwriting/behaviour(模仿某人的笔迹/行为);copy指完全模仿原有的东西，如：copy a sentence/picture(抄一句子/临摹一幅画);还有reproduce和duplicate 也可表示这类意思。reproduce(复制，仿造)指仿照原有的东西重造，如：reproduce a 16th-century theatre(仿建一座16世纪的剧院);duplicate(复制)指完全模仿原有的东西进行复制，作为原件复本，如：duplicate a letter(复制一封信)。
