galley桨帆船
主要用桨推进的地中海巨型船只。15～16世纪被法国、意大利和土耳其海军用作战舰。其长度和宽度大大超过古代的三层划桨战船。机动性亦胜过完全用帆推进的船只，但这种船只由于干舷高度较低，因此在波涛汹涌的大西洋上，其战斗力有所降低。
