【惯用法】用于(1)义时，comprise 与 consist of，be composed of 同义，表示“由……组成”之意，但此时人们一般避免使用 be composed of;用于(2)义时较少见，有人甚至反对这么用，而用compose 或constitute代替。

【辨异】comprise 与 include 和 embrace 都可表示“包括(含)”之意。comprise 指包括许多部分构成一个整体(见(1));include(包括(含))则指包含在内作为一个部分，如：The list includes many new names.(这名单上包括许多新的名字。)embrace(包括(含);拥抱)强调所包含内容的范围和类型，如：The report embraces a great variety of subjects.(这个报告涉及很广。)
