give sb a piece of one's mind 对某人直言不讳(尤指责备某人)： I'll give him a～of my mind if he's rude to me like that just once more. 他要是再对我那样粗鲁无礼，我就要斥责他。

go (all) to pieces (指人)精神(身体)垮了：He tries to put himself together， but he has gone all to～s. 他试图振作起来，但他完全垮掉了。

in one piece (指人)(经历危险之后)安然无恙的：get out of the damaged car in one～从毁坏的汽车中爬出来而未受伤;

(all) of a piece with sth 相互一致; 与……同一性质：In England， people expect a person's speech habits to be all of a～with his age and his class. 在英国，人们认为一个人的语言习惯应与他的年龄和社会阶层相称。

pick/pull sb to pieces (尤指在某人背后)把某人攻击得一钱不值：The three women were picking her character to～s when Anne suddenly walked in. 三个女人正在把安妮说得一钱不值时，安妮走了进来。

piece by piece 一点一点地，逐渐地：We have to check the rubbish～by～before we found the ring. 我们不得不一点一点地检查垃圾才把戒指找到。

a piece of cake 容易干(轻松)的事情，小菜一碟 (infml)： I need not have worried about my French examination—it was a～of cake. 我本来没有必要为我的法语考试担心，它很简单;

vt piece together (v adv) 1)拼凑，凑成(vt)：～together a jigsaw/a broken cup/the torn scraps of paper 把拼图/摔碎的茶杯/撕碎的纸片拼起来;2)凑在一起以得出(vt)： They managed to～together the truth from several sketchy accounts. 他们设法从几个不完整的叙述中得出了事实。

【说明】piece 在作“块、片”等解时，经常可以用更加具体的词替换，如： a piece of bread = a slice of bread (一片面包)，a piece of paper = a sheet of paper (一张纸)，a piece of soap = a bar of soap (一条肥皂)等。
