【辨异】gasp和pant表示比通常更加用力地呼吸。gasp表示一次急促地吸气，如因受到惊吓或吃惊以及类似的情况所致者，或者表示在疼痛时一连串的这样的急促吸气，例如：to gasp with horror(惊恐地喘着气);to gasp for breath(大口喘息着);pant(气喘吁吁)表示经过剧烈运动或由于兴奋而快速的、抽搐般的呼吸，如：pant after a run for the train(追赶火车之后气喘吁吁)。
