a false start 1) (体育比赛中的)抢跑：A runner is disqualified after two～starts. 运动员如果抢跑两次就会被取消比赛资格。2) 开始阶段的不顺利：He succeeded after many～starts. 在开始时经历了多次失利，后来他成功了。
