【辨异】1)动词close 与 shut语义相同，都可表示“关闭”的意思，因此可互换，如：close (shut) a door/a shop(关门/商店打烊)。但注意，close 的语体色彩要正式，也较有礼貌，而 shut 是口语词，语气较重。如：Close your mouth!(不要说了!)Shut your mouth!(闭嘴!)此外，close 可当“结束”讲，而 shut 不可，如：close(* shut) a meeting(结束会议)。2)名词 close 与 end 和 finish都可表示“结束”的意思。close 多指一过程预定的圆满结束，如：the close of a conference(会议的闭幕);end表示一过程或行为的自然终结，如：the end of a day/a race(一天/赛跑的结束);finish强调已开始的事情的完结，如：a fight to the finish(战斗到底)。
