one in a thousands很好，不可多得：My secretary is one in a～. I don't know what I would do without her. 我的秘书是不可多得的人才。如果没有她，我真不知道我该怎么办。

【注意】用作det 时，其前若加two，three，several 等，thousand 不可变为复数!如说五六千，要说5 or 6 thousand，这和五六百、五六百万一样( 5 or 6 hundred，5 or 6 million)。但要说“成千上万”时，可以用复数：thousands of people(成千上万的人)。
