(2) 表现好， 举止适当 (act or conduct oneself in a suitable way; show good manners) [I， T+n(oneself)] (无方式修饰语)：learn (know) how to～(oneself) in society/company学会(懂得)在社交/交往中举止得体;Dick， you're not～ing! Sit down and be quiet! 狄克，你这样表现不好! 坐下，安静点! (Please) (do)～yourself! (请)规矩点! If you come， you must～(yourself). 你要是来， 就规规矩矩的。If you～， you may stay up late.你要是表现好，可以晚睡。Why can't that child～? 为什么那孩子会没有礼貌? (3) 运转，工作，起作用 ((of things) work or function well or in a certain way) [I]：How is your new car/aircraft～ing?你的新车行驶/飞机飞行正常吗? The car～s well at high speed.这车开高速时行驶很不错。Our new water pump is～ing well.我们的新水泵工作正常。It can～either as an acid or as a salt.这可起酸的作用，也可起盐的作用。Some metals～differently when heated.有些金属加热时特性发生变化。

【说明】用于(1)义时，有副词等方式修饰语，用以说明行为举止的情况(好或坏等)，此时通常无oneself做宾语。无修饰语时，则behave本身即表示行为举止得体、规矩，即用于(2)义;此时，若为祈使句(或有祈使语义)，总是有宾语oneself，如：Behave yourself! (规矩点!) I told him to behave himself. (我告诉他要表现好好的。) 若隐含有强迫、要求等意义时，也常接oneself作宾语，如：I will see that the children behave themselves. (我要看到孩子们表现很好。) 如无这种含义，则反身代词可有(此时意味着行为更自觉)，也可无(见(2)中第一例)。
