刹shā

 （止住） put on the brakes; stop; check: ～ 车 stop [brake] a car; ～ 住歪风 check an unhealthy tendency; 一个小孩跑过马路， 司机紧急将车 ～ 住。 A child ran across the road and the driver put on the brake suddenly.
