(1)焦(忧)虑的，不安的(feeling anxiety about what may happen or have happened)[A(for/about)]：be (get)～about sb's illness/sb's poor health/sb's absence/sb's being out too late at night因某人有病/身体不好/缺席/深夜不归而不安;be (get)～about sb/one's child/the future/the exam next week因某人/自己的孩子/未来/下周的考试而忧虑;be (get)～for one's family/sb's safety为家人/某人的安全感到不安;It's time for us to go home;our mother will be～.我们该回家了， 妈妈会担心的。look～显得焦虑的样子;demand in an～tone话音焦虑地要求;～feelings/looks/expressions忧虑的感情/神情/表情;～thoughts忧思;an～mother 忧虑不安的母亲;〖同〗 worried，disturbed，uneasy;〖反〗 relieved，assured，calm;

(2)使人不安(忧虑)的(causing worry，fear or uncertainty)：That was an～moment when he almost fell off the cliff.他差点掉下悬崖，那会儿真叫人焦心。It was an～time/day/business/situation.那是令人不安的时刻/日子/事情/局面。an～wait for news 不安地等待消息;

(3)切盼的，渴(热)望的(having a strong desire，wish or eagerness to do sth)[A(for)，A+to-inf，A+that]：be～for promotion/getting news/the news of sb's safe arrival/a peaceful agreement/a bicycle 渴望提升/得到消息/听到某人安全到达的消息/一项和平协议/得到一辆自行车;be～to start early/to please one's guests/to be of service盼望早日动身/讨好客人/为人提供服务;be～for everybody to start early/everything to be settled 盼望人人早动身/一切都解决;be～that the next meeting should be a success/there be no misunderstanding 盼着下次会议圆满成功/不要有误解;

【用法】1)anxious的本意是“焦(忧)虑的，不安的”(见(1))。“切盼的，渴(热)望的”(见(3))的用法常常遭到反对，因此，在非常正式的场合下，此时最好换用eager; 2)表示焦(忧)虑的原因时，一般用about，表示切盼、渴望的内容时用for，或接从句(此时从句中的谓语动词用(should+)动词原形)或不定式，名词anxiety的搭配也基本与之相同。

【辨异】1) anxious与eager和keen都可表示“切盼”、“渴望”。但是anxious指忧虑不安地盼着做某事或发生某事，如：be anxious to see the sick;eager(渴望的，热切的)则是指兴奋急切地盼着做某事或发生某事，如：be eager to see the famous writer;而keen(渴望的，热心的)则是指出于兴趣、欲望，盼着做某事或发生某事，如：be keen to see the new film;注意，严格说来，在正式场合下，用eager而不用anxious，如下面句中，最好用前者而不用后者：The child is eager for Christmas to come.2) anxious与nervous和upset都可表示心中不安。但是anxious指对可能会发生的事担心、不安;nervous(害怕的，紧张的)是指对正在发生的事激动不安;upset(不安的，苦恼的)则是指对已发生的事心烦不安。
