【辨异】 foolish 与silly 和stupid 都表示智力、才智的缺乏或缺少判断力。它们稍有区别： foolish 指一般的愚蠢，没有头脑，如：a foolish decision (愚蠢的决定);The child seems foolish. (这孩子似乎没头脑。) silly (傻)表示极度的，明显的傻，形容讲话、玩笑时意为“空洞的”、“无聊的”，如：silly and senseless behaviour (傻而无意义的行为); a perfectly silly statement (完全无聊的声明); 而stupid (愚蠢)指的是天生的愚笨，有时是指头脑处于麻木，感觉迟钝的状态，如：well-meaning but stupid (本意是良好的，但很笨)。
