(1) 在任何时候 (at any time) (一般用于否定句，一般疑问句或表示怀疑和条件的句子中，通常放在动词的前面)：Nobody～visits us. 从来没人来看望过我们。No such a person～existed. 从来没有这么个人。No one in this village has～heard of you. 这个村子的人从来没有听说过你。Now he hardly～comes. 最近他几乎不怎么来了。If～I (或 I～) see him again，I'll ask him for the money he owes me. 我要是再见到他，我就催他还我钱。Is she～at home? 她有在家的时候吗? (2) 曾经;这以前(at any time up to the present) (用于一般疑问句的完成时)： Have you～seen him/been to London? 你见过他/去过伦敦吗?

(3) 比以往任何时候都(before or up till now) (与形容词比较级或最高级连用)：the biggest harvest/the nicest thing～空前的大丰收/迄今为止最好的东西;be busier than～比以往任何时候都忙; She was～growing weaker. 她变得越来越虚弱。You must work harder than～if you want to pass your examination. 若想通过考试，你必须加倍努力。Her behavior was becoming more than～strange. 她的行为变得越来越怪异。

(4) 总是，不断地(always; continuously)：be～hopeful/courteous 总是充满希望/彬彬有礼的;be～ready to help 总是乐于助人; They lived happily ～after. 从此以后他们过上了幸福的生活。I've known him～since he was a child. 从他还是个孩子的时候我就认识他了。You'll find me～at your service. 您会发现我随时听从您的吩咐。He is～repeating the same old story. 他总是老调重弹。〖同〗forever，eternally，constantly，continuously，incessantly; 〖反〗 never;

(5) 像以往一样; 尽量(可能) (与as ... as 连用，表示强调)：be as careful/much interested in music as～像以往一样细心/对音乐感兴趣;Come as quickly/Work as hard as～you can. 你尽量快点儿来/你要尽力工作。

(6) 究竟，到底 (at all; by any chance) (用于疑问词后，起强调作用)：What～shall I do? 我到底该怎么办? How～did you manage to do that? 你究竟是怎样做到那一点的? When/Where～did you find it? 你究竟在什么时候/地方找到的? Which～way did you go? 你到底走的哪条路? Why～didn't you do that? 你究竟为什么不那么做呢? Who～has told you that? 究竟是谁告诉你那件事的?

as ever 仍旧; 照常： He studies hard as～. 他学习依旧非常刻苦。

ever more 越来越：He said that he would love her～more. 他说他会越来越爱她。

ever since 从……以来：He has lost his money and he has been worried～since. 他的钱丢了，从此他一直焦虑不安。

ever so (口) 非常：I'm～so glad to see you. 我见到你非常高兴。

ever such a 很……的： She's～such a nice girl. 她是一个非常可爱的女孩。

for ever (and ever) 永远：I'd like to stay young for～(and ever). 我愿青春永驻。

hardly ever 很少; 几乎不：I hardly～go to bed till past twelve. 我很少在12点以前睡觉。
