(1)虽然，尽管(in spite of the fact that;even if)：A～it was cold，he didn't light the fire.虽然天冷，他却没生火。I kept silent～(或though)I was angry.尽管生气，我保持沉默。He performed the task well，～(更常用though)slowly.他完成任务不错，尽管完成得很慢。

(2)然而，但是(and yet;nevertheless;but)(不如though常见)：No one is infallible，～(更常用though)there are some people who think they are.谁也难免犯错误，但有些人认为他们不会犯错误。I did not know that then，～I learned it later.我当时不知道那事，但后来听说了。

【注意】在带(al)though的复合句中，主句里不能用but。

【辨异】although和though两个连词意义区别不大，只是 although语气较强，所引导的从句多置于主句句首;though较之口语色彩较重，当“然而”、“但是”讲时比although常见(见(2) )。though还可用作副词，与even，as构成even though，as though，以及用于部分倒装结构，这些although均不可。
