【惯用法】due to过去通常被看作是形容词短语，只能用于动词be后作pred或名词后作attrib，而不允许用在句中作状语。如可说：His mistakes were～to carelessness. (他的错误是粗心造成的。) Mistakes～to (= that are～to) carelessness may have serious consequences. (粗心造成的错误会产生严重后果)。而不可说：He made the mistakes～to carelessness. (他由于粗心犯了这些错误。) 然而，现在受过教育的人渐渐开始把due to看作复合介词，可和owing to一样用来作状语(如上述最后一例;其他例子见前面due to后的最后一组例句)。
