【说明】evening dress指男、女晚礼服。女用evening dress是露肩、露臂、几乎拖地的长裙;男用evening dress有两种：一种叫dinner-jacket(无尾晚礼服)，包括：长至臀部的黑上衣、白衬衫、黑蝴蝶领结，一般在非正式的场合穿用，如：私人晚餐会、剧院聚会、一般舞会等;一种叫tail(燕尾服)，包括：有尾摆的上衣、白衬衫、白坎肩、白蝴蝶领结，仅在正式场合穿用，且仅限于晚上。上述两种男晚礼服的裤子是相同的。白天穿用的男礼服叫morning dress(晨礼服)，包括有不同形状尾摆的上衣、灰条纹裤、高礼帽。

【辨异】dress与wear， put on和have on都可表示“穿衣服”。但dress的宾语是人(而不是衣服)，且只能用于穿衣服;而另外三个的宾语则是衣服，且还能用于穿戴鞋、帽、手套等。dress 既可表示“给(人)穿衣服”的动作，如：dress a baby(给婴儿穿衣服)，也可指状态，如：He dresses well.(他穿着很好。) put on(穿，戴)仅表示动作，如：put on a coat(穿上外衣)。wear(穿，戴)，have on(穿，戴)都仅表示状态，如：He always wears a hat.(他总是戴着一顶帽子。) He had a hat on.(他戴着一顶帽子。)
