【辨异】dip与plunge和immerse都可表示“把某物放入水等液体中”。dip指把某物(或其部分)迅速放入液体中又取出，如：dip a finger into water to test the temperature(把手指在水中沾一下以试水温);plunge((使)伸(插，投，……)入)，多一层“用力”和“突然”的意思，如：plunge a red-hot horseshoe into cold water(把烧得火红的马蹄铁投入冷水中);immerse(将……浸入液体中)指慢慢地放入液体中直至完全没入为止(可时间不长)，如：immerse meat in salt water(把肉浸进盐水中)。
