【用法】ago置于表示时间的短语之后，只可用于过去时，不可与完成体连用。

【注意】ago与since语义不同，因此用法也不同。ago是从现在往过去计数，指过去的某个时间，因此要用过去时，如：It was ten years ago that I saw my brother.(我是10年前见到我兄弟的。)since是从过去某时往现在计数，指现在的事实，因此要用现在时态，且因since本身即连词，不可再接that了，如：It is (has been) ten years since I saw my brother.(即：I saw my brother ten years ago.)(自从我见到我兄弟以来已有10年了。)

【辨异】 ago指从现在起若干时间以前;before则指从过去某时起若干时间以前。如：He told you two days ago.He said he had told you two days before.此外，before还可泛指到目前为止从前的整个情况，如：He has never told you before.He told you before.
