【惯用法】动词contact 只用作综合性词语，不可指用具体方法的联系，如可说：I must～him by some means or other.(我必须设法与他联系上。)而当我们的意思是write to，call on，telephone等时，不可说：*I'd better～you.此外，即使是contact的上述表示综合性语义的用法，也受到许多人的反对，他们认为用communicate with，get in touch with等更好。
