【辨异】confidence与trust、faith、reliance和dependence都表示“信任”。trust(信任，信赖)表示对某人或某事的本能的信赖(不一定有根据)，如：have trust in one's parents(对父母信赖);faith(信任，信心)指从感情上毫不怀疑地接受某人或某事，如：have faith in sb/what sb says(相信某人/某人所说的话);confidence表示由于有充分的理由、肯定的证据或以往的经验而具有的潜意识的信赖，如：have confidence in the outcome of events(对事件的结局有信心);reliance(信任，信心)指把自己交托给他人而不顾后果的决心，如：one's reliance on his teacher(对老师的信赖);dependence(信赖)指别无选择地把自己交托给他人，如：one's dependence on sb's experience(对某人经验的信赖)。还有assurance(确信)表示绝对的相信和把握，如：feel an assurance of victory(对胜利满怀信心)。
