【说明】表示适合(改编)的目的用介词for;表示适合(应)的对象用介词to;改写(编)成的形式用as。

【辨异】adapt与adjust、alter和accommodate都可表示“改变”。adapt指改变特性以作新的用途，如：adapt a paper clip for hairpin(把纸夹子改作发卡);adjust(调整以使适合于)指改变位置以便使用，如：adjust the eyepiece of a telescope(调整望远镜的目镜);这两个动词都可表示“使适应新的环境”等。alter(改变)指改变外表(而不是用途)，如：alter the height of a table(改变桌子的高度);accommodate(调节以使适用于)指改变人(或物)以使与另一物相协调，如：accommodate a plan to another(使一计划适应于另一计划)。
