【用法】whom 是一个非常正规的字，在日常语言中很少使用。who在日常语言中常常用作宾语，尤用于疑问句中，如：Who did you meet?(你遇见了谁?)Who did you speak to?(你跟谁说话了?)然而在介词后面必须使用whom，如：To whom did you speak it ?(你对谁讲了这件事?)这种用法极为正规，尤见于书面语中。在限定性定语从句中，whom往往省去不用，或用who或that代替，如：The friend(whom/who/that) I hadn't seen for ages came to see me yesterday.(我很久没有见的那位朋友昨天来看我了。)而在非限定性关系从句中，不可省略，多用 whom(或who)，也不可用that代替，如：The friend，whom/who I hadn't seen for ages，came to see me yesterday.(那位朋友昨天来看我了，我们已很久没有见面。)
