闷（悶）mēnⅠ ❶ （使不透气） cover tightly: 把火 ～ 灭 cover [bank] fire with ashes; 把沏好的茶再 ～ 一会儿。 Let the tea stand a while to draw flavour.
❷ （不说话） be tonguetied; stop speaking: 会上大家都 ～ 住了。 Everybody is tonguetied at the meeting. 你好像有什么事 ～ 在心里。 You seem to brood over things.
❸ (呆在屋里， 不去外面) shut oneself or sb. indoors: 把孩子 ～ 在家里 shut one's child indoors Ⅱ ❶ （气压低或空气不流通） stuffy; close; suffocative: ～ 得难受 suffocating ; 这里真 ～。 The air here is terribly close.
