【辨异】blaze与flame都可指燃烧发出的光和热(“火焰”)。flame (火焰)是常用语，可指任何大小的火焰，如：the light of a match flame (火柴燃着时的光);blaze指相对较大的燃烧，且是炽烈的。还有conflagration(大火灾)指漫及相当大范围的毁灭性大火，如：A conflagration destroyed the city. (一场大火把这座城市烧毁了。)
