(2)他(她、它)们自己(用于加强语气)(emphatic form of them or they)：(teachers/parents)～have a similar experience/pay for it/have often made that mistake(老师/父母)自己也有同样的遭遇/付的钱/经常犯那样的错;

be (not) themselves (没)恢复正常：After a hot meal and a few hours rest，they were～ again. 吃过饭，休息了几个小时后，他们恢复过来了。 They are not～today. 他们今天不舒服。

by themselves 1)自己(不依靠别人)：They decided to do it by～. 他们决定自己做。2)单独地：Put these stamps in the cupboard by～，do not mix them with other stamps. 把这些邮票单独放在小橱里，不要和其他的混在一起。

in themselves 本身：These events in～should not have caused a severe problem，but additional factors quickly led to troubles. 这些事件本身本不会引起严重问题，但其他的因素不久就惹出了麻烦。
