(2) 和……相比 (compared with)：You look tall/The brother is dull～him.和他相比，你显得高/哥哥笨。His work seems poor～hers. 和她的工作相比，他的工作似乎很差。B～other girls， she is a good tennis player.和其他女孩子相比，她的网球打得不错。

beside oneself(with sth)几乎发狂：be～oneself with rage/joy/hatred/jealousy/excitement/grief/toothache气/高兴/恨/嫉妒/激动/悲痛/牙痛得不得了(发疯);

beside the point/mark/question离题，与正题无关：What you have said is quite (entirely)～the point/the mark/the question.你所说的风马牛不相及。You will have to go. Whether you want to is～the point.你得走。你想不想走都得如此。

【注意】介词beside与介词besides语义不同，besides意为“除……之外”，不要弄混。
