疚jiù[书] Ⅰ ❶ （久病） prolonged illness;chronic illness
❷ （因有过失感到内心惭愧痛苦） remorse: 感到内 ～ have a guilty conscience；
子曰： “内省不 ～，夫何忧何惧？” The Master said，“When internal examination discovers nothing wrong,what is there to be anxious about,what is there to fear?”
❸ (忧伤；忧虑) mental discomfort;woe: 忧心孔 ～，我行不来。 Our sorrowing hearts are in great distress;/ But we shall not return from our expedition. 既来既往，使我心 ～。 Seeing them come and go,/ My heart is full of woe. Ⅱ ❶ （困惑） perplexed;puzzled
❷ （贫穷） poor;impoverished Ⅲ （痛恨） hate bitterly;utterly detest |
