I do not think that～be thought about. 我认为不必考虑那件事。N～you go now?—Yes，I must. (No，I～n't). 你现在就得走吗?——就是，我现在就得走。(不，我不必现在走)。I hardly～say how much I enjoyed the holiday. 我几乎不必说我是多么地喜欢这个假期。

(2)[与have + 过去分词连用，表示过去发生的某事是不必要的或可能不必要的]：N～they have done it yesterday? 他们昨天做这件事有必要吗? You～n't have hurried—we're the first here. 你不必急急忙忙，我们是头一个。She～n't have given him such an expensive present. 她没有必要送给他那么贵重的礼物。They～not have been punished so severely. 他们没有必要受到如此严厉的惩罚。

【说明】无时态，人称变化。否定式为need not或needn't/′ni：dnt/。只用于否定句或疑问句，在if和whether之后或与hardly，scarcely，no one等连用。
