吵chǎo

 ❶ （声音杂乱扰人） disturb by making noise;make a noise: ～ 得慌 terribly noisy；
别 ～！ Don't make so much noise!;Be quiet! 别 ～ 他。 Don't disturb him. 瞧，孩子被你们 ～ 醒了。 Look! You've woken the child with your noise. 他被收音机 ～ 醒了。 He was disturbed and awakened by the radio.
❷ （争吵） quarrel;wrangle;squabble: ～ 翻了天 kick up a terrific row；
不要为一点小事就 ～ 起来。 Don't squabble over trifles. 为这事和我 ～ 没有用。 It's no use quarrelling about it with me.
