(2)另外的，不同的(different)：Can I have～pen? This one is broken.我可以另拿一支钢笔吗?这支坏了。do sth～way/time 换个方法/时间做某事;That's quite～matter/kind.那完全是另一回事/另一类型。Can you show me～one? 能换一个给我看看吗?This letter isn't from Tom.It's from～friend of mine.这信不是汤姆写来的，是我的另一个朋友写来的。marry a person of～race 嫁给不同种族的人;He belongs to～era.他是属于另一个时代的人。

(3)类似的(similar)：Can you be～Einstein? 你能成为爱因斯坦一样的人物吗?He thinks he's～Shakespeare.他自以为是莎士比亚再世。

pron(1)又一个，再一个(an additional one)：Can I have～? I need two.我可以再拿一个吗? 我需要两个。I want～of those.我想再要一个。

(2)(不同的)另一个(a different one)：Can I have～? This one is broken.我可以另拿一个吗? 这个坏了。Saying is one thing，doing is～.说是一回事，做则是另一回事。A baby is one thing to baby-sit，a 6-year-old is～.照看婴儿是一回事，照看一个六岁的孩子则是另一回事了。Would you like～than that? 你要不要一个与那不同的? Don't you like that cake? Try～.你不喜欢那块蛋糕? 另尝一块。

(3)类似的一个(a similar one)：He is the greatest scientist — will there ever be such～?他是最伟大的科学家，将来还会有这样的科学家再世吗?

(4)他人(person other than oneself)：It's brave to die for～.为别人去死是勇敢的。

one another 互相：They love/help/write to/agree with one ～.他们相爱/互相帮助/写信往来/意见一致。

one after another 相继地：They achieved independence one after～.它们一个接一个地获得了独立。

one way or another 以某种方式，无论如何：We must finish the job this week one way or～.我们无论如何要在本周完成这项工作。

【注意】与another连用的往往是one，如：one way or another(以某种方式);one time or another(在某个时候);one thing or another(某件事)等;我们不可误用 *some way or another;只能说 some way or other(以某种方式)，即：some与 other连用。

【辨异】 one another和each other通常认为使用场合不同：one another指三者或三者以上;each other则指两者;但现代英语中人们已不严格遵守这一规则了，如：Husband and wife should love one another/each other.(夫妻应该相亲相爱。)
